Filing a Claim
1) UCJF - Pedestrian PIP
If you are a pedestrian who has been injured in an accident with a private passenger or commercial motor vehicle, and you have no coverage under an automobile insurance policy and do not reside in a household in which a family member has automobile insurance coverage, you may be entitled to personal injury protection benefits pursuant to the Unsatisfied Claim and Judgment Fund Law,
N.J.S.A. 39:6-60 et seq. These benefits will provide, subject to statutory conditions and limitations, reasonable and necessary medical treatment for injuries you may have sustained in the accident.
2) UCJF - Uninsured Motorist (UM) Claims
The UM claims process begins with the filing of a Notice of Intention to Make a Claim (NOI) within 180 days as required by N.J.S.A. 39:6-65. All statutory requirements of the UCJF Law, N.J.S.A. 39:6-61 et seq (“Law”) must also be satisfied. Kindly review the Law to determine eligibility requirements. An NOI form can be downloaded from our Forms Library.
3) Insolvency
The claims process begins with the filing of a Proof of Claim (POC)
with the liquidator. The liquidator then forwards the claim to PLIGA or the appropriate
Fund for administration.
PLIGA and the Fund cannot accept POCs on behalf of the liquidator.
