New Jersey Medical Malpractice Reinsurance Association
The NJMMRA was created, in 1976, pursuant to
NJSA 17:30D-1.
to assure that medical malpractice liability insurance was readily available to licensed medical practices and health care facilities. The Association was deactivated in 1982 and is currently in run-off.
The NJMMRA was established in 1976 in response to a failing medical malpractice marketplace where doctors were having difficulty finding coverage. It provided policies directly to physicians, as well as reinsurance to their insurers.
